Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment

The Nordic Thoracic Oncology Group (NTOG) wants the website at ntog.org to be usable by as many people as possible, including healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, relatives, and members of the public who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, or keyboard-only navigation.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and we take the European accessibility standard EN 301 549 as our reference. NTOG is a professional network rather than a public-sector body, so the EU Web Accessibility Directive does not formally apply to this website; we nevertheless follow its model voluntarily.

2. Scope of this statement

This statement covers the public NTOG website at ntog.org, including informational pages, research news, event pages, clinical resource pages, and the browser-based educational tools hosted on the site. It does not cover external websites we link to, or documents and resources hosted by third parties.

3. Conformance status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most content conforms, but some parts, listed below, do not yet fully conform.

4. What we do to support accessibility

• Pages are built with semantic HTML: meaningful headings, landmarks, lists, and labelled navigation.
• The site can be navigated with a keyboard, and interactive navigation elements (menus, dropdowns) expose their state to assistive technologies through ARIA attributes.
• Text can be resized with browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality, and layouts adapt to small screens.
• We aim for sufficient colour contrast between text and background, and we do not use colour as the only means of conveying information.
• Decorative images are hidden from assistive technologies, and informative images are given text alternatives.
• Pages declare their language, use descriptive titles, and avoid content that flashes or moves unexpectedly.

5. Known limitations

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:

• Interactive educational tools. Some browser-based tools (for example risk calculators, structured forms, and pathway sandboxes) contain complex custom controls, charts, and dynamic content that may be difficult to use with a screen reader or keyboard alone. We are improving these tools progressively.
• Charts and figures. Some data visualisations and scientific figures do not yet have complete text alternatives or data-table equivalents.
• Documents. Some downloadable documents (for example PDFs of protocols, posters, or publications) were produced by third parties or with older workflows and may not be fully tagged for accessibility.
• Embedded third-party content. Embedded media and content served from external platforms follow the accessibility practices of those platforms, which we do not control.
• Archived material. Older archived pages and materials from past events may not meet current standards and are kept for reference.

6. Compatibility

The website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) on desktop and mobile devices, and with common assistive technologies such as screen readers and browser zoom. The site does not require a mouse, and core content does not depend on JavaScript being enabled, although some interactive tools do.

7. How this statement was prepared

This statement was prepared on 30 July 2026 and is based on a self-assessment of the website against WCAG 2.2 level AA, using manual checks of keyboard navigation, heading structure, text alternatives, and colour contrast, supported by automated accessibility testing tools. The statement is reviewed when significant changes are made to the website.
